Owaisi urges Congress to unite against BJP, says he is open for alliance

AIMIM President Asaduddin Owaisi took a swipe at Congress on Friday, saying there is a need for unity to defeat the BJP. Following Congress’s poor performance in the recent Haryana Assembly elections, Owaisi said, “If you want to defeat Modi, you must unite and take everyone along. You can’t do it alone.”
Speaking at a gathering in Vikarabad, Telangana, Owaisi mentioned that AIMIM MP Imtiyaz Jaleel had already approached Congress for alliance talks. With the Maharashtra Assembly elections approaching in November, Owaisi expressed a willingness to form an alliance with Congress to challenge the ruling Mahayuti coalition.
“We do not want the Shinde-Fadnavis-Ajit Pawar trio to return to power,” Owaisi stated. He urged Congress to initiate discussions, warning that AIMIM would otherwise run independently.

Owaisi highlighted that AIMIM had been open to alliances even before the Lok Sabha polls but was not included in the INDIA bloc.
Congress leader Mohammed Feroz Khan also earlier hinted at an alliance between the grand old party and AIMIM in Telangana ahead of the Lok Sabha elections. However, Owaisi denied the proposal and termed Congress leader Khan’s comment as “joke”,
